Chris Raley appointed Director of Thompson Clarke Shipping, July 2011
Chris Raley has been appointed a Director of Australia’s leading maritime consultancy with immediate effect. Chris has 30 years’ experience, both at sea and ashore, in the international maritime industry; his extensive international maritime business experience includes a mix of operational and strategic expertise gained through roles in the United Kingdom and New Zealand maritime safety administrations, Australian port operations, sea-going positions and search and rescue (SAR) management.
During his career Chris has had extensive involvement with, and represented both UK and NZ on international fora including IMO, IALA, COMSAR and the Joint WG for harmonisation of SAR. This experience has equipped him well to identify, interpret and implement international policies and guidelines, which has added a new dimension to the capabilities of Thompson Clarke.
Since joining the company two years ago, Chris has worked on a range of marine industry related operational and strategic projects in virtually every state and territory in Australia, including Darwin, Dampier, Flinders Ports, Tasports, Sydney, Newcastle, Port Alma and North Queensland Bulk Ports. These projects have been across a wide range of issues such as vessel traffic management, towage, port procedures, terminal operations and port management, safety procedures and risk assessment, mitigation and management related to port and vessel operations.
