President of Boyd Steamship Panama visits Australia
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, November 2010
Robert J Boyd III, President of Boyd Steamship Corporation, visits Melbourne and Sydney at the beginning of November 2010. The visit, which is being organised by Thompson Clarke, is to enable Robert to call on carriers and ship brokers to brief them on both current and future operations of the Panama Canal after completion of its enlargement in 2014. The table below details current and future (2014) restrictions on the size of vessels using the Canal.

- Dangerous Cargo (PD1).
A vessel with any of those characteristics can only transit in daylight hours.
Boyd Steamship was founded by the current President’s grandfather in 1909 and has just celebrated its centenary. It is arguably Panama’s most professional agency company providing a full range of services to carriers including:
- Tracking principals’ vessels electronically to update ETAs at the Canal and if necessary related transit bookings
- Based on this tracking updating forecasts of Canal transits for principals
- Providing responses to queries from principals about the Canal within 2 hours on a 24/7 basis.
