Simon Black - Company Secretary

Simon is a Senior Consultant in the Firm's professional shipping and transport consulting practice and Company Secretary. Simon joined the company in 1988 from Price Waterhouse Urwick where he was a senior consultant in their general management consultancy. Prior to that appointment he spent 12 years in information systems.

Simon manages the company’s market research and trade feasibility projects, including software development for transport studies. He is a specialist in analysing and modelling proposed shipping services and has completed major projects for a wide variety of liner companies. He has also worked extensively in reviewing opportunities for landbridging in Australia for National Rail Corporation (predecessor of Pacific National) and the main capital city port authorities.

Simon has participated in numerous projects assessing Australian ports’ potential as container gateways and transhipment points, as well as feasibility studies for a range of liner trades in the SW Pacific and between Australian, NZ, Asia and North America. He has also been involved in assessment of the potential of a number of container terminal development projects in SE Australia, as well as waterfront benchmarking for the Australian Productivity Commission.
He also had 3 years experience promoting the transhipment capabilities of PSA Corporation of Singapore to Australian shipping and cargo markets, as well as in excess of 10 years experience promoting the Port of Los Angeles as the prime USWC container gateway for the Australian trade.
