Sandy has over 30 years experience in the international maritime and transport industry having combined a seagoing background with a long career analysing and forecasting the key shipping market sectors internationally from London and Melbourne.
He was at sea as a deck officer serving on general cargo, reefer, bulk, tanker and passenger ships in trades worldwide before coming ashore to embark on a career in journalism with Fairplay International, specialising in the maritime business sector.
Sandy has established a reputation for detailed and accurate analytical reports and has received several industry awards for his work. For a number of years, he has been actively involved in national, state and industry anti-pollution exercises as well as crisis and media management training for prominent industry organisations. He has been a regular speaker at industry conferences and has appeared on TV and radio to discuss maritime issues.
Prior to joining Thompson Clarke in January 2008, Sandy was Editor of the well respected transport industry newspaper, Lloyd’s List DCN.
