Richard has over 30 years experience in intiiermodal transport in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, over half of which was in the capacity of CEO.
Between 1976 and 1991 he held this position in four organisations – MSAS Ltd, UK, a major international air freight forwarder with offices in 18 countries; Straits Steamship Co. Ltd, Singapore, a listed diversified regional shipping, property and engineering group; Van der Horst Ltd, a listed service engineering group in the marine, oil and gas and industrial sectors with operations in Asia, North America and Europe; and lastly Sea Containers Australia Pty Ltd, the local subsidiary of Sea Containers Ltd, listed in London and New York.
After two years in export marketing consultancy, Richard opened Thompson Clarke’s Sydney office in 1994 and provides senior management in both the public and private sectors with strategic commercial and transport advice.
Richard has been Managing Director of Thompson Clarke since co-founder, Malcolm Thompson retired in January 1999.
